Chief Instructor
Andy is the school's Principal and Chief Instructor at Academy Sailing. He has years of experience working with the public and many tens of thousands of miles as a Master/Captain in specialised maritime sectors. As an RYA Recognised Training Centre Chief Instructor, teaching people to sail is where his passion lays and so setting up Academy Sailing with his wife Kathryn became a life-goal. Andy finds it extremely rewarding to stay in touch with people and hear all about the adventures people pursue after their sailing courses.

Kathryn has many years of experience working with the public and continues to enjoy this now. Kathryn loves sailing and so jumped at the opportunity to open Academy Sailing with her husband Andy. Kathryn loves providing a high quality experience, so she enjoys finding ways of combining her passion for cooking into what we do - great food on our courses! Kathryn runs day-to-day business and enjoys helping customers with any advice needed.
Hayley Atkins, MSc
RYA Yachtmaster Instructor
Hayley is a highly experienced RYA Yachtmaster Instructor who has not only mastered expertise in the field of sailing instruction, but also in education as an A-level science teacher. Hayley's passion for sailing saw her take a break from mainstream education to focus on sailing. Hayley is a lively, fun, and absolutely first-rate sailing instructor who knows how to make courses brilliantly engaging. Academy Sailing is incredibly proud to have Hayley on the team.
Giles Ford-Crush
RYA Yachtmaster Instructor
Giles is an experienced RYA Yachtmaster Instructor and a lifelong passionate sailor. He brings calm authority, practical wisdom and infectious enthusiasm to every course he teaches. Giles owns a beautiful Moody sailing yacht which he keeps locally, sailing these waters regularly with his wife. His in-depth knowledge of the area adds real depth and confidence to his instruction. A close friend of Andrew and Kathryn, Giles is very much part of the Academy Sailing family. Academy Sailing is extremely proud to have Giles as part of the team.

Greg is another superb Yachtmaster Instructor with a huge amount of experience instructing. Greg enjoys teaching all courses from RYA Start Yachting through to RYA Yachtmaster prep weeks. Greg is a popular instructor who has a knack of relaxing his students and making everything fun. We are very pleased to have Greg on the team.
