SKILLS REFRESHER

The Academy Sailing Skills Refresher Course is perfect for skippers and crew who are booked on a flotilla holiday but may not have been sailing in a little while.  Equally useful for anyone wanting to brush up on their skills.

With a choice of either a one or two-day skills refresher course, we provide the opportunity to practice close quarter boat-handling (CQBH) skills, anchoring, picking up mooring buoys, hoisting & reefing sails, man-overboard, and basic crew skills. We also teach `Med-mooring' as well which is not something taught as standard on the RYA Competent Crew or RYA Day Skipper courses.

This skills refresher course can be booked by individuals or groups. Those booking on to brush up on crew skills need not have previously attended a Competent Crew course.

Customers booking skills refresher training are welcome to bring less experienced crew onto the training. This is popular as a pre-flotilla holiday familiarisation for your crew.

From our base in Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex, we are close to London and easy to reach from across the east of England.

What's Included?

There are no hidden extra costs to any of our courses. Your course fee covers:-

  • Accommodation (yacht has central heating throughout)

  • All meals - delicious breakfasts, lunches and evening meals on board

  • Tea / coffee / snacks all day

  • Free parking at the marina

  • Your own allocated bunk

  • Use of state-of-the-art GoreTex sailing jacket and salopettes (new every season)

  • All safety equipment including personal issue lifejacket

  • Your RYA Instructor & hire of the yacht

The cost of each course is shown below. There are no hidden extras. A non-refundable deposit reserves a place on your chosen course with the balance being due 7 weeks before the start of the course. See full terms and conditions for more information including cancellation policy and refunds. We recommend holiday insurance to cover for cancellations (costs around £10 from reputable insurance companies).
