5-Day Mile Builder – Build Your Experience, Enjoy the Sailing! Looking to build your sea miles, develop your sailing skills or simply enjoy five fantastic days out on the water? Our 5-Day Mile Builder is the perfect opportunity to gain valuable experience in a relaxed, friendly and enjoyable environment. Starting and finishing at Burnham Yacht Harbour, Burnham-on-Crouch, we'll head off for five days of sailing, with our route and destinations shaped by the weather and conditions. That's all part of the adventure! Whether you're a Competent Crew member looking to gain confidence, a Day Skipper wanting more experience, or a more experienced sailor keen to sharpen your skills and progress further, there's something for everyone. Unlike a formal RYA course, there's no syllabus to follow or pressure of assessments. Instead, we can tailor the sailing around the interests and experience of those on board. Whether that's passage planning, navigation, sail handling, boat manoeuvres, helming or simply getting more comfortable taking an active role in running the yacht, there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved, practise and learn. And, of course, it's not all about the sailing! Expect great company, plenty of laughs, lovely food and the relaxed, sociable atmosphere that Academy Sailing is known for. Five days, plenty of sailing, new experiences and some great memories. What better way to build your miles? Note: We strongly recommend you have holiday / travel insurance to protect against needing to cancel your sailing holiday or course.
Terms and Conditions
Clients are strongly advised to take out holiday insurance that covers sailing. Sportscoverdirect.com and others offer this at very inexpensive prices (circa £12). Please understand that asking to delay or postpone your course is the same as cancelling your booking. Academy Sailing will contact you for balance payment when this becomes due. Balance payments are required 10 weeks prior to the commencement of the course or holiday. For south-coast holidays and RYA Coastal Skipper courses, an interim balance payment becomes payable 19 weeks before the commencement date. Refunds to the Client of any money paid to Academy Sailing for a Booking are made in accordance with the following periods of notice given by the Client of the Cancellation:- * MORE than 9 weeks – full refund of the Programme fee paid less the non-refundable deposit amount shown against the service and less any card processing fees and bank fees. * 9 weeks or less, but more than 5 weeks – 50% of the Programme fee, less any card processing and bank fees. Where the Client has not made full payment, the balance between the deposit and 50% of the Programme fee must be paid to Academy Sailing before the cancellation becomes valid. * 5 weeks and less – no refund of the Programme fee. Where the Client has not made full payment, the balance between the deposit and the full programme fee remain owed by the Client to Academy Sailing.
