Description

This RYA Coastal Skipper course with Academy Sailing has been combined into our holiday legs to provide the exceptional opportunity for our Coastal Skippers to navigate from the Hamble* in the Solent, all the way to Burnham-on-Crouch* in Essex. Full of challenges and exciting, this advanced practical qualification gives you the skills and techniques required to skipper a cruising yacht safely on coastal passages by day and night. Arguably the most satisfying course in the RYA Cruising Scheme, it will build on and refine the navigation and boat handling skills taught at Day Skipper level. This course takes you to the next level and is where most skippers aspire to reach. To join this course you need to already have achieved RYA Day Skipper level, and completed your RYA Yachtmaster theory (either online or in the classroom). You join Dream Odyssey at Hamble Point Marina* at 4pm on Sunday 9th of August 2026 (where passage planning for your passage starts!), and disembark at Burnham-on-Crouch in Essex at 10am on Saturday the 15th of August 2026. Transport: The start location of Lymington is a short walk from the local train station. The end destination of Burnham Yacht Harbour is also just a few minutes walk to the train station. Both stations have excellent route links. Your fee covers the boat, your Yachtmaster Instructor, marina costs along the way, boat fuel, gas, use of jackets, salopettes, lifejackets, accomodation, breakfast, all luinches, snacks, tea/coffee, and evening meals on 4 evenings. The crew eat on shore for two evenings at their own expense - crew chooses which evenings they want to do this and where - lots of nice places to choose from! Reserve your place now—no deposit taken until Sept/Oct 2025, when we ask you to confirm. A further £225 is due 1st January 2026, with the remaining balance payable 9 weeks before departure. We advise all customers to take-out inexpensive holiday insurance (cost around £12) to provide protection in the event you need to cancel through illness, bereavement and similar. *Please do not book train tickets until much nearer the time in the unlikely event we need to modify the start and finish locations slightly due to weather. We will be able to confirm in the days leading up to your course.
