Description
This RYA Coastal Skipper course with Academy Sailing includes an exciting opportunity: a full coastal passage from The Hamble (Solent) all the way to Burnham-on-Crouch (Essex). It’s a journey packed with variety, challenge and real-world decision-making - the perfect environment to earn this advanced practical qualification. The RYA Coastal Skipper course is often considered one of the most rewarding stages in the RYA Cruising Scheme. It builds on and sharpens the navigation, passage-planning and boat-handling skills learned at Day Skipper level, taking you to the next stage of confidence and capability. This course stretches you in all the right ways and is designed to transform your seamanship, giving you the techniques and judgement required to skipper a cruising yacht safely on coastal passages, by day and by night. To join this course you need to already have achieved competence to RYA Day Skipper level, and RYA Yachtmaster theory. Join Dream Odyssey Hamble Point Marina, 4pm Sunday 9th of August 2026, where passage planning starts! Disembark Burnham-on-Crouch (Essex) 10am Saturday 15th August 2026. Transport: The Lymington start location is a short walk from the local train station. The end destination of Burnham Yacht Harbour is also just a few minutes walk to the train station. Both stations have excellent route links. Your fee covers the boat, your Yachtmaster Instructor, marina costs along the way, boat fuel, gas, use of jackets, salopettes, lifejackets, accomodation, breakfast, all luinches, snacks, tea/coffee, and evening meals on 4 evenings. The crew eat on shore for two evenings at their own expense - crew chooses which evenings they want to do this and where - lots of nice places to choose from! Reserve your place now - deposit of £225. A further £225 is due January 2026, with the remaining balance payable 9 weeks before departure. We advise all customers to take-out inexpensive holiday insurance (cost around £12) to provide protection in the event you need to cancel through illness, bereavement and similar. *Please do not book train tickets until nearer the time in the unlikely event we need to modify the start and finish locations slightly due to weather.
