RYA COMPETENT CREW: JURASSIC COAST CLASSIC LYMINGTON TO DARTMOUTH Join Dream Odyssey for an extended six-and-a-half-day RYA Competent Crew course and genuine coastal passage from Lymington to Dartmouth. Rather than operating from a single base, you’ll cruise through the Solent and along the spectacular Jurassic Coast, experiencing some of the most beautiful parts of the south coast along the way. No previous sailing experience is required. You’ll gain your RYA Competent Crew qualification while enjoying a memorable sailing holiday, with considerably more time aboard than on a standard five-day course. It is also ideal for anyone with sailing experience who wants to build miles and experience a longer coastal passage. Join Dream Odyssey in Lymington at 5pm on Saturday 19 June 2027, where introductions, preparation and passage planning will begin. We’ll then head west through the Solent and along the Dorset and Devon coastlines, before disembarking in Dartmouth at 4pm on Friday 25 June 2027. Possible destinations and stops along the way include Swanage, Lulworth Cove, Weymouth and Salcombe, before completing the passage in Dartmouth. The precise route and overnight stops will be determined by the skipper, taking account of the weather, tides and conditions during the passage. There is also a very good chance that we’ll be joined by dolphins along the way! TRANSPORT The marina in Lymington is within walking distance of the railway station. From Dartmouth, bus services connect with Totnes railway station for onward travel. Both Lymington and Totnes have good rail connections. WHAT IS INCLUDED Your fee includes use of the yacht, tuition from an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor, marina fees during the passage, fuel and gas, accommodation aboard, use of waterproof jackets and salopettes, lifejackets, and all breakfasts, lunches, snacks, tea and coffee. Four evening meals aboard are also included. On the other two evenings, the crew will eat ashore at their own expense, choosing together where they would like to eat. EARLY BOOKING AND PAYMENT The total cost of this extended course is £1,250. We are not collecting the usual deposit at this stage, but you can secure your place now for just £25. The £25 forms part of your £300 deposit, leaving £275 to pay in November 2026. A further installment of £300 is due 19 weeks before departure, with the final balance of £650 payable 10 weeks before departure. We look forward to welcoming you aboard Dream Odyssey!

Clients are strongly advised to take out holiday insurance that covers sailing. Sportscoverdirect.com and others offer this at very inexpensive prices (circa £12). Asking to delay or postpone your course is the same as cancelling your booking. Refunds to the Client of any money paid to Academy Sailing for a Booking are made in accordance with the following periods of notice given by the Client of the Cancellation:- * MORE than 8 weeks – full refund of the Programme fee paid LESS the non-refundable deposit amount shown against the service and LESS any card processing fees and bank fees. * 8 weeks or less, but MORE than 4 weeks – 50% of the Programme fee, LESS any card processing and bank fees. Where the Client has not made full payment, the balance between the deposit and 50% of the Programme fee must be paid to Academy Sailing before the cancellation becomes valid. * 4 weeks and less – no refund of the Programme fee. Where the Client has not made full payment, the balance between the deposit and the full programme fee remain owed by the Client to Academy Sailing.
