Stage 1 – RYA Competent Crew Learn the foundations of cruising yacht sailing and become a confident, capable crew member. The RYA Competent Crew course is ideal for beginners and covers safety, seamanship, helmsmanship, and all aspects of life aboard a modern cruising yacht. You’ll finish with the skills and confidence to take an active part in sailing and running the boat. Stage 2 – RYA Day Skipper Ready to take charge? The RYA Day Skipper course builds on your experience, developing your navigation, pilotage, and boat-handling skills. You’ll skipper short passages under the guidance of your instructor and gain the confidence to take command of a cruising yacht in familiar waters by day.
